For our customer, which provides tech platforms for transparent, frictionless, and sustainable digital supply chain, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer!

To build up and grow the first Tech Hub in Istanbul,  we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer!

Your role

As a Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/d) in the Booking team at the first Tech Hub in vibrant Istanbul, you will be in close collaboration with a highly competent team in Berlin. Your main responsibility will be to develop and maintain the booking system, which processes customer requests for various transport services. Following this, the goal of the Booking team is to streamline and scale the booking processes through the development of automations that enable efficient creation and management of bookings.

Responsibilities

  • Play an instrumental role in the foundation of the Tech Hub, in close collaboration with the Berlin teams, while driving the cultivation of a robust engineering culture in Istanbul
  • Drive automation efforts to eliminate the need for faxes, emails, and phone calls in logistics, enabling employees to focus on meaningful tasks instead of manual work
  • Take an active role in a collaborative team environment, taking ownership of the entire software development cycle. This includes designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable and robust solutions. You will also continuously enhance existing systems, including critical component refactoring
  • Explore and implement cutting-edge software design patterns to tackle the complex challenges we encounter within the ever-evolving domain of logistics
  • Engage in various challenges, such as leading engineering-wide initiatives, collaborating with different teams and stakeholders, and documenting concise RFCs (Request for Comments) and ADRs (Architectural Decision Records)
  • Mentor and support fellow engineers in their growth, while also seeking out new challenges for personal and team development.

Qualifications

  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in backend technologies. Our tech stack includes NodeJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, MongoDB, message queuing systems, and Kubernetes. However, if you are experienced with similar other technologies but eager to learn and adapt to our tech stack, you are also encouraged to apply
  • Experience with multiple databases, both relational and non-relational, and the ability to choose and apply the appropriate database paradigm based on specific use cases
  • Familiarity with any cloud provider is a plus
  • Hands-on experience in developing distributed backend applications to address complex challenges such as data consistency, quality, latency, and availability
  • Proficiency in using industry best practices in software development, including testing, code reviews, maintaining documentation, and following coding guidelines to enhance the quality and maintainability of software
  • Experience in Agile development practices and ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
